The ARC
Action – Respond – Change
The ARC is an Inclusion room where pupils will spend time learning how to modify their behaviour and / or develop strategies to cope before returning to the classroom.
They will follow most of their normal timetable and learn how to access the curriculum in a meaningful way. Pupils will be set work from subject teachers that they can complete independently or with support from Higher Learning Teacher Assistants (HLTAs).
The same school rules, Choices and Rewards policies apply in the ARC.
Pupils are referred to the ARC following an Inclusion Panel meeting where previous interventions and current needs are assessed, these could be varied, multiple and complex. This is a short term placement, up to six weeks, where specific specialist intervention will also take place in order to remediate individual difficulties and then a phased and monitored return to mainstream lessons will follow.
