                                                                                                Design and Technology Year 9 rotation.

Looking ahead to the options available to the current year 9 within Design and Technology I have decided to make slight changes to the rotation this year. Early next year our students will be asked to make option choices and some may wish to continue to study within the Design and Technology area. In the light of this, I have tried to make the year 9  rotation more relevant and   I have tried to give the students a flavour of what to expect if they do choose to continue in this area. All students were asked at the end of year 8 to choose one of the following   :-      

                                                                                    D.T. Resistant Materials / D.T. Engineering / D.T. Food Technology.

Each one of the choices follows the same design and make structure and therefore students would not miss out on the design and make process, but would use different  and  appropriate materials

Having chosen from this list I then put each student in the option of their choice. Some students at this stage knew that Design and Technology was not for them and expressed no particular desire for any and this has allowed me some flexibility.

We hope that by doing this we have better informed our students and equipped them to make the right choices in the future.

When the final option choices are made early in 2012 I will then rearrange the groups according to the students’ final choice and they will stay in that group for the remainder of year 9.
